“Barque” Pitcher

With a nice capacity (2 liters), this hand-turned piece is used for cold drinks, or in an indoor watering can.

The form comes from poutarras, used in the sixteenth century by fishermen from lakes and ponds in Provence to bring water on their flat-bottomed boats.

It was also found in the long-range sailing marine, to preserve the olive oil in the kitchen: it was called then great oiler.
